Advanced training for pilots and organizations developing the systems, procedures and judgment required for Level 1 Complex operations.
Mission objectives, roles, environment and regulatory pathway.
Structured ground and air risk assessment with defensible mitigations.
Aircraft, command-and-control, containment and system limitations.
Briefings, communications, abnormal procedures and evidence-based decisions.
Level 1 Complex Operations Training includes required instructor-led ground school, five shared instructor-led practical hours addressing complex and eligible BVLOS operations, and preparation for the Transport Canada Level 1 Complex examination and flight review. These are shared hours, not five individual hours per student.
The required Level 1 Complex flight review is available separately for $500 plus applicable taxes.
Practical training takes place at a CPA-approved site selected for weather, airspace, equipment and operations. Dates depend on instructor, equipment, facility and site availability. Request cancellation or rescheduling in writing: seven or more calendar days allows one complimentary change; 72 hours to seven days may incur an administrative fee; less than 72 hours or a no-show may forfeit the session and further training may be charged. Exceptions require CPA approval. CPA reschedules safety or operational postponements without a fee.
